Understanding the Basics of Using Ear Piercing Solution

August is Ear Piercing Month

Before getting your ears pierced, it’s important to have a basic understanding of the aftercare process for a new piercing. Ear piercing care and aftercare are critical for making sure your new piercing stays healthy and heals properly. Here we discuss what you need to know about caring for your new piercing.

Before we get started, let’s discuss the difference between an earlobe piercing and a cartilage piercing. If you had your earlobes pierced, you can safely change your earrings after 6 weeks. For a cartilage piercing, you should allow 12 weeks of healing time before you can safely change your earrings.

Though the healing times are different for earlobe and cartilage piercings, the aftercare for both types is the same. Here are some tips to follow:

Always Have Clean Hands – Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before touching your ears or piercing earrings.

Cleaning – 3X a day, gently cleanse the front & back of your new piercing with a cotton swab soaked in Ear Care Solution. Rotate your piercing earrings at least 3X a day, ideally after you have applied your Ear Care Solution.

Check your Earring Back – After cleaning and before bed, check to make sure that your earring back is fastened securely.

Protect the Piercing – Avoid irritating your piercing with products such as hair spray, shampoo, soap, perfume or cosmetics. Cleanse your piercing after using any of these products.

Following these basic care instructions will help ensure your new piercing stays clean and heals safely. If you have any questions, please visit our website here.
