Learn How to Care for Newly Pierced Ears Before Your Summer Piercing

With Memorial Day on Monday, it’s hard to believe summer will be here soon. Are you planning on getting a new piercing this summer? Understanding how to care for newly-pierced ears is important if you are planning a summer piercing. Here’s what you need to know:

Protect Yourself from the Sun

We all know that we need to protect our skin from the sun, and that goes for newly-pierced ears as well. Sunscreen is a must for keeping our skin protected, but it’s important to keep it AWAY from your new piercing. When you apply your sunscreen, be sure to avoid getting it in or near your piercing. If that happens, rinse your piercing thoroughly with clean water and cleanse with your aftercare solution.

The best way to protect your new piercing from the sun is to sit in the shade or wear a wide-brimmed hat to keep your ears covered.

Swimming

If have a new piercing, it’s best to avoid swimming – especially in public pools, lakes, rivers, and the ocean – for the first few weeks of your healing period. If you do get wet, rinse your piercing with clean water and reapply your aftercare solution as soon as possible.

Aftercare and Keeping Your Piercing Clean

No matter what time of year you get pierced, it’s important to keep your hands and anything that comes into contact with your piercing CLEAN. We recommend keeping an extra bottle of ear care solution and supply of cotton swabs with you at all times for unexpected cleanings.
